So, what's the point of it all

I have been struggling a little lately, with the whole idea of Church, Christianity and what it means... What have we made it? What is it, really? I think that we have made it about the doing of it, as opposed to the being of it. Make sense? - In essence, we have created a thing that we call Christianity and it looks generally like a life of doing. We are judged according to what we have done in the framework of Christianity as defined by the church. But wait a minute, isn't it about our God? Isn't that why we have church in the first place? What about loving our God? What about loving others?
